2017 WNBA Week 3: Diana Taurasi continues to set milestones

(LVJ's 2017 WNBA season round-up Week 3)

Diana Taurasi is 35 years old and may be in the final few years of her basketball career. But it doesn't mean she can't shine anymore.

The multiple-time Olympian, WNBA champion, and MVP continued to show her ability to take charge and impact games last week when she tied a three-point record and passed Katie Smith to become the all-time leader in three-pointers made.

Taurasi dropped 37 points, shooting 8-of-14 from beyond the arc to lead her Phoenix Mercury to a 99-91 win over the Chicago Sky. She now has 914 career triples made. She (7,399) is also just 89 points behind all-time scoring leader Tina Thompson (7,488).

Many stars have taken over the league today, and yet Taurasi's luster isn't ready to fade. That's testament to why is one of the greatest to have ever played the game.

Jonquel Jones notches 20-20 game

Connecticut Sun big Jonquel Jones became only the 12th player in league history to notch a 20-20 game when she finished with 23 points and 21 boards in a 97-79 victory over the Sky.

Jones is enjoying a career season so far with Chiney Ogwumike sidelined. She is averaging 14.5 PPG and 12.3 RPG in 26.5 minutes per game, a huge leap from her 14.1 minutes/game average during her rookie season. Prior to this year, Jones started in just six games but she has already started in seven games for the Sun this season. The Sun may be struggling to get wins right now but they can count on Jones to hold the fort at the center spot.

Storm rising

Before getting blown out by the Minnesota Lynx just this Saturday, the Storm had a nice little two-game winning streak going with wins over the New York Liberty and Indiana Fever.

In that stretch, five players (Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart, Alysha Clark, Crystal Langhorne, Sami Whitcomb) averaged in double-digit points for the Storm, a good sign of balance for the team with a relatively younger core than most contenders.

Right now, the Storm are still no. 2 in the overall team standings with a 4-2 record.

Woj: Becky Hammon among candidates for Bucks GM

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon is one of the candidates for the vacant Milwaukee Bucks GM position, according to a report by The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Woj, Hammon, the former San Antonio Stars guard, is one of the candidates whom the Bucks "have contacted" for the position.
"Another candidate whom the Bucks have contacted, league sources said: San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon. Hammon has no front-office experience, but has been a behind-the-bench assistant coach under Gregg Popovich for three seasons."
While Hammon isn't the favorite to land the job, just being considered speaks a lot of how the industry regards her. Hammon broke barriers when she became the first full-time female NBA assistant coach. She also became the first female head coach to mentor in the NBA Summer League, leading the Spurs to a Summer League title in 2015.
