WATCH: William's buzzer-beater lifts Miss St, ends UConn's 111-game win streak

The Mississippi State University Bulldogs put an end to the University of Connecticut Huskies' seemingly unstoppable run as queens of NCAA women's basketball in spectacular fashion as guard Morgan William hit the game-winning jumper in their 2017 NCAA Final Four duel on Friday which allowed her team to advance with a 66-64 win.

The buzzer-beater snapped UConn's 111-game winning streak and their four-year title reign. The Bulldogs will face the South Carolina Gamecocks for the championship.

Miss St. controlled the first half, leading by eight, before UConn came back. The Bulldogs had chances to win the game in regulation although a huge block by Gabby Williams forced extension.

The Bulldogs lost scorer Victoria Vivians in overtime as she fouled out but they continued to put pressure on the Huskies.

A good seal by center Teaira McCowan underneath led to an uncontested basket which pushed Miss St. ahead, 64-62 with just over a minute left.

A flagrant foul on Dominique Dillingham almost changed the complexion of the match, as Katie Lou Samuelson would knock down two free throws to tie things at 64-all.

However, the basketball gods seemed to have found a way. Saniya Chong turned the ball over, paving the way for what will now be considered as one of the most memorable shots ever in NCAA women's basketball history.

It has been a great ride for the Huskies, and they surely will come back even stronger next season as they will have an intact roster.

This game also goes out to everyone who said UConn is bad for the sport or that NCAA WBB is getting way too predictable. The Huskies set the standard, and other teams built their rosters with the quest of beating the best. Miss St. did that on Friday, and now they have a chance to be this year's best.
