More firepower: Mystics sign Kristi Toliver

The Washington Mystics continue to add firepower to their roster, this time signing free agent Kristi Toliver on Tuesday.

Toliver, the third overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft, spent seven of her eight seasons in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks, which culminated in a championship run in 2016. She has career averages of 12.2 PPG and 3.2 APG.

The acquisition came just a week after the Mystics completed deals including one which involved superstar Elena Delle Donne.

Considering the Mystics have also dealt guard Bria Hartley to the New York Liberty, adding Toliver will fill that void in the backcourt, and boy did the Mystics make sure they are definitely not getting just another guard.

Toliver is an all-star level talent and a career 40.5-percent three-point shooter. She can surely help the team with her ability to create offense. That will also give other guards like Tayler Hill and Ivory Latta the option to play off the ball. Those three make up for a solid backcourt rotation.

Add Delle Donne and Emma Meesseman to the mix and it certainly looks like the Mystics offense will be something to keep an eye on each night.
