Sky, Chatman part ways after six seasons


The Chicago Sky have fired head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman, the league announced on Friday.

Per the Sky website: 
"After six seasons, the Chicago Sky has decided Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman will not be retained. Under her direction, the Sky had an overall regular season record of 106-98 including an 18-16 campaign in 2016."
Chatman guided the Sky to their first-ever playoff appearance back in 2013. The year after, the Sky won the Eastern Conference title although lost to the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals.

Chatman said:
“I want to thank the incredible fans of Chicago, my staff and all of the players for their hard work and dedication in helping to grow the franchise. 
I am proud of what we were able to accomplish, and appreciative of the opportunity given to me by (team owner) Michael Alter.”
Chatman also posted a message on her Twitter account, thanking the franchise for the opportunity.
