2016 all-WNBA teams announced; Parker left off

Los Angeles Sparks forward and 2016 WNBA MVP Nneka Ogwumike headlined this year's all-WNBA teams announced by the league on Friday.

Ogwumike (195 points) joined former MVPs Tina Charles (193), Elena Delle Donne (162), and Maya Moore (185) in the all-WNBA first team along with Sue Bird (128).

Ogwumike was the only player who received 39 first-team votes from the national panel.

Angel McCoughtry (122), Diana Taurasi (89), Rookie of the Year Breanna Stewart (117), Jewell Loyd (48), and Defensive Player of the Year Sylvia Fowles (86) comprised the all-WNBA second team.

One noticeable absence is Sparks forward Candace Parker, who put on a superstar-level performance throughout the season.

Also snubbed from the United States Olympic team, Parker averaged 15.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 4.9 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 1.0 APG. She started in all 34 regular season games and shot 38.2 percent from three-point land. She also ranked seventh in total rebounds, third in total assists, fourth in defensive rating, and third in defensive win shares this season.
