Stars sign Whitney Knight for remainder of 2016 WNBA season

The San Antonio Stars have signed Whitney Knight for the remainder of the 2016 WNBA regular season, the team announced on Friday.

Knight was recently waived by the Los Angeles Sparks, which had to create space for Sandrine Gruda in the regular rotation.

Per the Stars website:
"The San Antonio Stars today announced the team has signed guard Whitney Knight for the remainder of the season.
Knight (Florida Gulf Coast, 6-3) was drafted 15th overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2016 WNBA Draft. She averaged 0.9 points and 0.4 rebounds in seven appearances with the Sparks this season. She was waived by Los Angeles on Aug. 30."
Knight could sure help the Stars in their remaining games this season. The Stars were left with eight active players in their last two contests as a handful of players are injured. It was also announced Dearica Hamby is expecting her first child.

A playoff spot isn't likely for the team. The Stars are currently at the bottom of the league standings with a 6-21 record.
