Minnesota Lynx re-sign Anna Cruz

The Minnesota Lynx have re-signed guard Anna Cruz, the team announced Thursday.

Per the Lynx website:
"The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has re-signed free agent guard Anna Cruz. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“We are excited to have Anna return to the Lynx for the rest of the 2016 season,” said Executive Vice President Roger Griffith. “Anna added a spark off our bench last season and played a major role in us winning our third WNBA Championship. We look forward to her providing that spark during the final stretch and into the playoffs.”"
Cruz was a key figure in Spain's silver-medal finish in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started in all eight games and averaged 8.5 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 3.1 APG.

One of her memorable highlights was a buzzer-beater against Turkey in the quarter-finals which capped a dramatic comeback allowed her team to advance.

The 29-year-old Cruz was part of the 2015 Lynx squad which captured the title. She averaged 8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 3 APG in 22 regular season games. She also played in all 10 post-season games.

Cruz will arrive on September 3.

The Lynx are second in the team standings right now with a 21-4 record, just half a game behind league leaders Los Angeles Sparks. Adding Cruz further strengthens the squad's rotation and being familiar with Cheryl Reeve's system, Cruz won't have to adjust that much.
