Luxury cruise ship to house USA Basketball teams during Rio Olympics

The United States' men's and women's basketball teams shall be housed in a luxury cruise ship called the Silver Cloud during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil, according to a report by Shekhar Bhatia and Louise Cheer of the Daily Mail.

The said ship is currently docked at the Pier Maua of the city. Instead of staying at the Olympic Village where they might experience problems like Australia men's basketball team member Andrew Bogut, members of USA Basketball will be able to enjoy the amenities of the ship, which can house up to 400 guests, like the gym, library, spa, pools, and even a small casino.

The ship is protected by 250 cops; a bullet-proof fence was also built for additional security. There are also local cops patrolling the waters.

The men's and women's basketball teams arrived to the city on Wednesday. Both are looking to extend their respective gold medal streaks in the Olympic Games.

Per TMZ, it is not the first time the USA Basketball teams stayed on a cruise ship rather than staying in the designated Olympic Village.
