Defending FIBA EuroBasket Women champions Serbia can count on Jelena Milovanovic when their quest to defend their European title starts on June 16 in Czech Republic.

Milovanovic, the Perfumerias Avenida forward, led the Serbians in scoring in their preparation games for the 2017 EuroBasket Women.

The world no. 9 Serbia participated in a four-nation tournament in Czech Republic and won two of their three games in that meet.

Serbia first defeated Latvia, 69-61 with Milovanovic scoring 21 points. She also had eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals while making all of her seven free throw attempts. Tamara Radocaj added 12 points.

Against China, the 28-year-old Milovanovic was even more impressive, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor to wound up with 20 points and four rebounds in a 71-66 win.

The hosts edged the defending champions though, 58-56. Milovanovic still had 16 points while Sasa Cado added 12 on 5-of-11 shooting.

Serbia concluded their training camp for the European championship with back to back wins over Asian champions Japan at the Belgrade Sports Hall.

Serbia beat Japan, 90-73 in the initial meeting before repeating with a 77-64 victory. Milovanovic averaged 19 PPG while Cado averaged 13.5 PPG. Aleksandra Crvendakic was particularly reliable in the first game, where she tallied 17 points.

The team was not really able to play other key players Sonja Petrovic and Ana Dabovic throughout their preparation, so others should step up.

Serbia is in Group C of the EuroBasket Women with Greece, Slovenia, and France.
